A chance meeting with a certain person (not a band member) at a 1997 PopMart concert led to me asking if I could bring a "real" camera to a show. Sure, I was told, as long as I didn't bring any big lenses.
Additional accidents of timing, employment, unemployment, geography, and, well, accident, kept me going to concerts. A lot of concerts. I kept taking my camera with no zoom, and I kept taking pictures. This site is the result.
Other results include photos twice in Rolling Stone, once on the cover of the Boston Globe, four book covers, an exhibition banner in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, and some jawdropping credit card bills. But as cool as 4/5ths of that list is, the best result is the notes I get from people who see a moment of their experience captured in a photograph.
I have since made photography my profession, but I present these galleries in the spirit they were taken: as a fan, sharing what I can with other fans. I hope these pictures go well with the music in your headphones and the concert memories in your head.
